Abstract
Investigations of smooth muscular tissue (SMT) of rat uterus during the period of pregnancy and post partum showed that myometrium adaptation to the increasing function load was characterized by increased content of cytoplasmic protein in the smooth muscular cells. At the same time small myocytes increased in number, and proliferation potential in all parts of the uterus was enhanced. By the end of gestation, transformation of SMT in different parts of uterus was multidirectional. We found that postpartum involution of cervix myometrium is much slower than that in the horns.
