Abstract
On the basis of epidemiological studies, data on peculiarities of postural instability in elderly and senile persons was obtained. The results of the research lead to the conclusion that the development of postural instability and, as a consequence, falls in people aged 65–89 years should be considered as an indication of premature aging having a direct or indirect impact on the life span. Further research is needed to identify and prevent the risk of falls in people aged 65 and older.
Keywords
falls, elderly and senile, rate of aging, postural stability and instability.
