For Authors

Manuscript Submission Requirements

Версия для печати
Our requirements for authors have been drawn up in accordance with the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals, developed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.
  1. The Editorial Office accepts manuscripts for the key sections of the journal, presenting a high degree of scientific novelty, theoretical and practical significance. The paper must state principal findings of the study. Scientific papers are accepted throughout the year.
  2. Only researchers, doctoral students, postgraduate students (starting from the second year of study) and PhD candidates may be authors of our articles.
  3. A manuscript can be accepted for publication in the journal upon receiving a positive peer review from recognized scientists in the given field of knowledge. In case of a positive review, the article is included in the next issue of the journal in the order of submission.
  4. Only scientific papers that have not been published before and conform to our technical requirements are accepted for publication. Manuscripts failing to meet the requirements will not be considered.
  5. The final decision on the acceptability of the manuscript for publication is made by the Editorial Board of Journal of Medical and Biological Research. A decision letter will be sent to the author.
  6. Postgraduate students and PhD candidates are required to submit a recommendation letter from their scientific adviser. The letter does not substitute for a peer-review, but only guarantees the article’s sufficient scientific level.
  7. Articles are published free of charge. For a fee, authors can request to be published in the coming issue of the journal (payment is accepted only after the manuscript has been reviewed and approved for publication, the fact of payment does not affect the decision to publish the article or the editors’ and reviewers’ evaluation of the manuscript).
  8. Authors must disclose the following information in their manuscripts:

8.1. Requirements for citing organizations and individuals included in the special registers of the Russian Federation
In accordance with the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation, the editorial board has established the following mandatory rules for authors:

    Extremist and terrorist organizations:
On first reference, organizations (including links to their information resources or documents) listed as extremist or terrorist organizations in accordance with Russia’s legislation (as stated by the Federal Financial Monitoring Service, Ministry of Justice, and Federal Security Service), authors must place a footnote in the article worded as follows:
“By the decision of [court’s name] of [date], [organization’s full name] has been designated as an extremist (terrorist) organization; its activities are banned on the territory of the Russian Federation.”

    Foreign agents:
Every time an article mentions individuals or organizations included in the register of foreign agents (maintained by the Russian Ministry of Justice), the note “(designated as a foreign agent)” must be made in the text.
This rule also applies to the list of references. If the author cites a work by a person listed as a foreign agent or a publication that is founded by such a person, the following statement in square brackets must be added after the publication details: [the individual/organization is designated as a foreign agent].

8.2. Policy on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in manuscript preparation
According to the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), authors are required to be transparent regarding the use of generative AI technologies:

    Declaration of use:
Authors must notify the editors of their use of artificial intelligence (such as ChatGPT, GigaChat, and similar tools) when submitting the manuscript. It is recommended that this statement be included in the Acknowledgments section or in the Introduction.

    Contribution disclosure:
The article must clearly state the purposes for which AI was used (e.g., grammar check, translation, data analysis, code generation, generation of diagrams, tables, graphs, charts and figures or literature search) and the author's contribution to the interpretation of the AI-generated results.

    Authorship restrictions:
NB! Artificial intelligence tools cannot be credited as authors or be held responsible for the content of the paper. Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy of all data presented in the manuscript, including the fragments created with the use of AI.

    Grounds for rejection:
The editors reserve the right to reject a manuscript in the following cases:

    1. If AI was used to generate scientific content (conclusions, data interpretation) without critical analysis by the author, which is contrary to the principles of scientific creativity;

    2. If the author intentionally concealed the use of AI and this is revealed upon receiving the manuscript or in the process of review or editing.
